Provisional statistics on spain's participation in the 2020 horizon
Juan Antonio Tébar, Director of European Union Programs and Territorial Cooperation, has published the results of Spain's participation in H2020.
The objective of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness is to annually encourage the participation of Spanish entities in order to achieve a return of 9.5%. This year, more than 37,500 proposals were submitted from Spain and a return of 10.1% was achieved; that places Spain in fourth place in terms of highest return, 3rd in terms of participation rate and 1st in project leadership, specifically it is leader of 15.1% of the total of submitted projects. These numbers represent 4,877 financed R&D&I activities from which 2,700 Spanish entities have benefited.
The government undertook a concentrated strategy with the Autonomous Communities, which led Catalonia to obtaining the highest amount of funding (977.1 million euros). Madrid came second (830.7 million euros) and, the Basque Country (468.4 million euros) came third.
